Terms and Conditions at No. 17 The Promenade

Room Requests

Please note that we will endeavour to meet all room requests, however these cannot be guaranteed.

Room allocation is completed the night prior, and all requests will be taken into consideration during this process. We recommend reserving the desired room type at the time of reservation to ensure satisfaction, particular room numbers cannot be reserved ahead of arrival/allocation.

Check In & Check Out

Rooms are available on the day of arrival from 3pm. Rooms must be vacated on the day of departure by 11am. Early check-in or late check-out can be available, this will incur a surcharge. Late departure must be arranged with the reception team the evening prior departure at the latest.


This is usually completed at the time of reservation.

A pre-authorisation may be required at check-in to cover any extras or incidentals above the total amount payable for the duration of your stay. In addition, the hotel may request a security deposit of £50.00 per night.

Your booking will be guaranteed against a credit card, subject to the cancellation policy detailed below. You will be asked for a pre-authorisation for your accommodation when you check in. If you wish to check out before your reserved date of departure, please notify us as soon as possible. It is standard for all reservations to be automatically charged after the cancellation period has expired, this is designed to enhance your arrival experience.

Any booking that has been prepaid or where a deposit has been taken, guests must provide the same credit card details upon arrival. If someone is paying for the individual travelling, then a signed credit card authorisation form must be completed and sent to the hotel showing the last four digits and signature strip of the card. Please contact the hotel for more information. Please note that No. 17 The Promenade does not offer bill-back facilities.

No. 17 The Promenade accepts Visa, MasterCard, Visa Debit, Maestro and American Express.

No. 17 The Promenade does not accept Cash, Diners Club, Bank transfer or cheques.


Cancellation, no-shows and changes policy

We know that plans can change last minute or unexpected things can take place but as a small hotel, we believe that it is only fair to others that we make a charge if you cancel at the last minute and don’t let us know in advance.

Therefore, should you wish to make any changes to your confirmed booking, please note the following terms and conditions:

Best Available Rate

Our cancellation policy requires 72-hours’ notice. Should you need to cancel or amend your booking please contact the hotel by 11:00am 3 days prior to arrival. Should you cancel outside this policy you will be charged for your full reservation to the credit or debit card used to confirm the reservation.

Please note all reservations for 7 nights or more a 25% of the total cost of your stay will be taken as a deposit at the time of confirmation which is non-refundable and non-transferable. The 25% non-refundable deposit applies to each night booked and any night cancelled will still incur the 25% non-refundable deposit. The deposit cannot be used as a reduction towards the entire stay if the number of nights have been reduced.

Early Booking Offer Rate

Full pre-payment is required at the time of booking and your credit/ debit card will be charged in advance of your arrival. If we are unable to complete the transaction, your daily rate will revert back to our standard selling rates. Therefore, please make sure you provide the correct contact details. This booking is non-cancellable, non-refundable and cannot be amended.

Extended Stay Bookings

For bookings of 7 nights or more, a 25% deposit is required at time of confirmation. This deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable. Our cancellation policy requires 72-hours’ notice prior to arrival. The deposit applies to each night of the booking and it will still be incurred for any night which may be cancelled. The deposit cannot be used as a reduction towards the whole stay if the number of nights is reduced. If the length of stay is reduced to 6 nights or fewer, the booking will revert to our standard Best Flexible Rate.

If you fail to cancel and do not show up, you will be charged for your full reservation.

Any request to cancel a reservation cannot be considered complete until you receive our cancellation confirmation or cancellation reference number. Until you do so, your booking will still be considered valid and cancellation penalties may be incurred. If you do not receive a confirmation of your cancellation or cancellation reference number within 24-hours of your initial request, please ensure you contact us without delay.

If you make the booking via a third party site (i.e. a booking agency or affiliate site), you must cancel through them. No17 The Promenade is unable to guarantee any cancellation or amendment requests for third-party reservation.
Reservations made later than 11am the day prior to arrival may not be modified or cancelled without a charge of your full reservation being made to the debit or credit card used to guarantee your reservation.

Exclusive Hire

A non-refundable deposit of 100% from the total cost of your stay will be requested when you book your private stay or more than 18 rooms with us.

A non-refundable deposit of 50% from the total cost of your stay will be requested when you book your private stay or more than 9 rooms with us.

Please note that exclusive use contract for public areas and restaurants must be agreed with hotel management prior to arrival, reservation of all hotels rooms does not automatically include full exclusive use.


Children are welcome to stay at No. 17 The Promenade

Children up to and including 8 years old stay free of charge.

A £25.00 per night per child charge is applied for children aged 9 – 17 years old.

Children up to and including 2 years old stay free of charge when using an available cot. Please request a cot at the time of booking as we cannot guarantee availability at check in.

Additional beds are available on request for £25.00 per night, and an additional bed for an adult is £50.00.


Limited free parking is available on site.

No advance reservation is required. We, we follow “first come, first served” policy.

Please note that residents use our car park their own risk and No. 17 The Promenade accept no liability for any theft or damage to your vehicle or its contents.

Complaints or comments

Any complaint or comment regarding a stay at No. 17 The Promenade should be made in the first instance to the hotel’s Duty Manager at the time of your stay so that it can be resolved at the time. Any verbal notification must be put in writing and given to the Duty Manager as soon as possible. If you remain dissatisfied, however, you must write to the General Manager, within 7 days of the end of the stay you have purchased from us giving your booking reference and full details of your complaint. We regret we cannot accept liability if you fail to notify the complaint or claim entirely in accordance with this clause.

Guest responsibilities

We expect all guests to have consideration for others. If in our reasonable opinion or in the reasonable opinion of any other person in authority, you or any member of your party behaves in such a way as to cause or be likely to cause danger, upset or distress to any third party or damage to property, we are entitled, without prior notice, to terminate the stay of the person concerned. In this situation, the person concerned will be required to leave the accommodation or other service. We will have no further responsibility toward such person. No refunds will be made and we will not pay any expenses or costs incurred as a result of the termination.

No. 17 The Promenade may subsequently charge for items which are damaged or go missing during your stay.

No. 17 The Promenade is not responsible for the loss or damage to any of your valuables during your stay. We recommend that all guests use the safe provided in your room.

Smoking Policy

No. 17 The Promenade has a strict non-smoking policy. For the additional cleaning charges that the hotel will incur we reserve the right to charge a guest up to £200.00 if they are found to be smoking or vaping in a room or public area of the hotel. Should a guest continue to smoke in a room or public area, No. 17 The Promenade reserve the right to have the guest removed from the hotel and relevant authorities notified.

Social Media Competition

  1. The promoter is No17 The Promenade, a company incorporated under the Companies Acts and having its registered office at 1 Railway Pier, Oban, Argyll, Scotland, PA34 4LW.
  2. The competition is open to residents of the United Kingdom aged 18 years or over except employees of No17 The Promenade and their close relatives, and anyone otherwise connected with the organization or judging of the competition.
  3. There is no entry fee and no purchase necessary to enter this competition.
  4. By entering this competition, an entrant is indicating his/her agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.
  5. Route to entry for the competition and details of how to enter are via Facebook.
  6. Only one entry will be accepted per person. Multiple entries from the same person will be disqualified.
  7. Closing date for entry will be midnight on 30/06/2022. After this date the no further entries to the competition will be permitted.
  8. No responsibility can be accepted for entries not received for whatever reason. Any entries which are deemed to be in bad taste or include content irrelevant to the competition will be removed.
  9. The rules of the competition and how to enter are as follows:

           To be entered into our competition, you must follow the original instructions within the competition post on Facebook.

  1. The promoter reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition and these terms and conditions without notice in the event of a catastrophe, war, civil or military disturbance, act of God or any actual or anticipated breach of any applicable law or regulation or any other event outside of the promoter’s control. Any changes to the competition will be notified to entrants as soon as possible by the promoter.
  2. The promoter is not responsible for inaccurate prize details supplied to any entrant by any third party connected with this competition.
  3. The prize is as follows:

           An overnight stay at No17 The Promenade, including breakfast.

           The prize is as stated and no cash or other alternatives will be offered. All bookings are subject to availability and change. Prize cannot                  be taken during school holiday periods or over the festive period. The prize is non-refundable and non-exchangeable and cannot be                      sold to a third party. Prizes are subject to availability and we reserve the right to substitute any prize with another of equivalent value                  without giving notice.

  1. Winners will be chosen at random by software, from all entries received and verified by Promoter and or its agents.
  2. The winner will be notified by DM on Facebook on 01/07/2022. If the winner cannot be contacted or does not claim the prize within 7 days of notification, we reserve the right to withdraw the prize from the winner and pick a replacement winner on 08/07/2022.
  3. The winner will be required to give their contact details to us, and we will contact them within three days for the reservation to be made.
  4. The promoter’s decision in respect of all matters to do with the competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  5. By entering this competition, an entrant is indicating his/her agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.
  6. The winner agrees to the use of his/her name and image in any publicity material, as well as their entry. Any personal data relating to the winner or any other entrants will be used solely in accordance with current UK data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party without the entrant’s prior consent.
  7. Entry into the competition will be deemed as acceptance of these terms and conditions.
  8. This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook, Twitter or any other social network. You are providing your information to No17 The Promenade and not to any other party.   9. No17 The Promenade shall have the right, at its sole discretion and at any time, to change or modify these terms and conditions, such change shall be effective immediately upon posting to this webpage.
  10. No17 The Promenade also reserves the right to cancel the competition if circumstances arise outside of its control.
